    3rd Grade Curriculum

    Reader’s Workshop

    • To improve individual reading, writing, and critical thinking skills
    • To model the use of reading strategies
    • Provide opportunities to read daily using “Just Right” books 
    • To provide opportunities to  respond to reading through writing and discussion
    • To increase the level of reading fluency and comprehension.
    • To develop a greater appreciation of literature and the language expressed there-in
    • To challenge each student appropriately

    Writer’s Workshop

    • To develop and improve overall writing skills
    • Utilizing the writing process by teaching strategies for planning, revising, editing, and publishing 
    • To organize ideas into paragraphs
    • To elaborate upon ideas composing pieces that have a beginning, middle, and end
