Fifth Grade Concert

Community Service

Our fifth grade students are now performing community service within our school. Students have joined various committees, with a goal of giving at least two hours of service to Toquam before the end of the school year. School Beautification, Office Support Help, Book Fair Help, Links of Love, Peer Mediation, and Donation Committee are some of the groups offering their time and effort. Some students will tutor in kindergarten and first grade, while others will be penpals with residents of nursing homes or with armed services personnel.

Good luck and many thanks to our grade five students!

Homework in 5th Grade

Expect homework in multiple subjects each night

There are frequent writing assignments and projects

Check homework notebook nightly

Monitor homework completion & emphasize work ethic

Leave mistakes that are a true reflection of what your child does not understand

Homework Tools - dictionary, calendar for chunking up long-term assignments to be sure they get done on time, ruler, calculator, pencils & erasers, lined paper

The fifth graders went to the state capital in Harford in late November.

They toured the Legislature building and the Museum of Connecticut History.

In addition, we got lucky.

When Governor Malloy heard there was a school group from Stamford there that day,

he came out to meet our kids!
