February is Folk Literature Month in the media center.
Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be listening to legends, myths and fables.
Younger students will enjoy folk tales from different countries.

Happy New Year!
Fifth graders will be starting a project about Westward expansion.
Fourth graders will be finishing up a project about the Columbian Exchange,
the exchange of plants, animals and diseases that followed the voyage of
Christopher Columbus in 1492.
Then, students in grade 4 will explore the question:
If it is on the Internet, does that mean that it is so?
Third graders will continue learning to type, and will enjoy some Native American folk tales.
Students in grades K, 1 and 2 will be learning about the Caldecott Medal (for children's book illustration)
and listening to some of the stories that have won the award.

Grade 4 and 5 students are eagerly reading the 10 books nominated for the Nutmeg Book Award, Connecticut's state book award, this year.
Which book will be the winner? We'll know after the students vote in January.
