And the Winner is...

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate

is the winner of the 2016 Nutmeg Book Award!

Don't forget to record the books you read in the media center when you visit.

Fourth and fifth grade students who read at least 5 books by April can vote for the book they feel should be the next Nutmeg winner.

Circulation Policy

Students may borrow from the media center each week.  Students in grades K-2 may borrow one book each week; children in grades 3, 4 and 5, 2 books or magazines. Books and magazines are due back in 1 week. An item may be renewed if no one is waiting to borrow it.  There are no late fees for overdue materials. However, students are expected to return items on time and in good condition.  If a book or magazine is lost, or returned damaged, the student must pay for the item before checking out anything else.

Celebrate

We are "celebrating" computer science week by participating in The Hour of Code.  Students at all grade levels are learning basic coding skills by playing age appropriate games hosted by CODE.org. These games are free and students are encouraged to play them at home, at the library or wherever they have an internet connection.  Some site suggestions include:

 Tynker

Code.org

Scratch

Khan Academy

Tablet only sites:

Hopscotch

Box Island
